September 22, 2024 Ballroom Dance

Our Fourth Sunday Afternoon ballroom dance will take place in the historic Spanish Ballroom. Music will be provided by Some Assembly featuring vocals by Iain Sturrock.  Some Assembly has had numerous successful performances at Glen Echo Park over the years and successfully performed for Ballroom Time in January.  Some Assembly will be playing a selection of ballroom music including Slow Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Swing and more. A large part of ballroom dance fun is having the opportunity to practice a variety of dances to live music.  There will be a beginner lesson starting at 2:45 pm with a focus on Samba, the dance of the month. Live music then begins at 3:30 and goes to 6:00 pm. There will be a mixer and a line dance or two during the event.  Rounding out the afternoon, we're pleased to have members of the North Potomac Ballroom Dance Club join us for a special dance medley showcase.

Admission is $15 at the door(Cash /Check/Zelle/Venmo/Credit Card) or $5 for full-time students / active-duty military (Cash only).

Many attend Ballroom Time events. Everyone is invited.  Children under 18 should be accompanied by an adult. Please be sure to visit our  Facebook page for photos and videos of previous Ballroom Time events!

September 8, 2024 Ballroom Dance

This month's Second Sunday Afternoon ballroom dance will take place in the historic Spanish Ballroom. Music will be provided by The Janet Paulsen Trio.  This will be a encore performance in the Spanish Ballroom for Janet who impressed our dancers with her sparkling vocals on two previous occasions.  The Trio will be playing a selection of ballroom music including Slow Waltz, Tango, Foxtrot, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Cha-Cha, Swing and more.  Many of the Trio's tunes are taken from the Great American Songbook, ideal for ballroom dancing.

A large part of the fun is having the opportunity to practice a variety of dances to live music. So please join us.  A beginner lesson in ballroom basics starts at 2:45 pm with a focus on Samba, the dance of the month.  Live music then begins at 3:30 and goes to 6:00 pm.   The afternoon will also include a samba line dance or two, a showcase or dance demonstration, and a mixer.

Admission is $15 at the door (Cash /Check/Zelle/Credit Card), or $5 for full-time students / active-duty military (Cash only).  NOTE: September 8 is Grandparent's Day.  Send a photo to info@ballroomtime.org showing you with your grandchild(ren) and enjoy a $5 discount, or just show us a photo at the door.
