On Tuesday evening, June 24, 2025 Ballroom Time will host a two-hour ABC's Workshop!To help ballroom dancers prepare for our recurring Sunday dances, we are offering an ABC's Workshop.on Tuesday evening June 24, 2025 from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. This special reduced-price Workshop will take place in the air-conditioned Ballroom Backroom. The Workshop is designed with beginner dancers in mind, and will cover lead and follow techniques along with basic steps and figures that can be used across multiple dance styles. The first hour will cover mambo, rumba, cha-cha, and bachata. The second hour will cover dances that move in a line of dance including waltz, foxtrot, tango, and samba. More experienced dancers are encouraged to join the Workshop for brush-up practice and to help newer dancers. We will be rotating partners, which is always optional for those who dance with a preferred partner. Following the Workshop, there will be a half-hour of supervised practice to recorded music from 8:30 to 9:00. The Workshop will be taught by Ballroom Time staff Tom Hall and Min Zhang who have a combined total of over 50 years of ballroom dance experience. Admission to the Workshop is $15 (Cash /Check/Zelle/Credit Card at the door). Active-duty military, full-time students, and students enrolled in a Ballroom Time class may take the Workshop for $10. For intermediate-level dancers, we are offering our popular A+ Workshop on Sunday afternoon June 29, 2025 from 2:30 to 4:30 pm. This special Workshop will take place in the air-conditioned Ballroom Backroom. The Workshop is designed with advanced beginner to intermediate-level ballroom dancers in mind, and will offer figures that can be used across multiple dance styles. The first hour will cover open and closed cross-body lead in rumba and cha-cha; spiral turns; bolero styling; and additional figures for bachata and merengue. The second hour will cover additional figures for waltz and foxtrot including chassé steps, the natural spin turn and the impetus turn. We'll practice the Viennese cross used in Viennese waltz. We'll review the open reverse turn and back corte in ballroom tango. If you've completed an ABC's course or have 6 months or more of ballroom dance experience, you are encouraged to join the Workshop. We will be rotating partners, which is always optional for those who dance with a preferred partner.
