ABC's of Ballroom Dance Workshop on Saturday Afternoon November 16, 2024

To help ballroom dancers prepare for our upcoming Winter Ball on December 8, we are offering an ABC's Workshop in the historic Spanish Ballroom on November 16, 2024 from 2:00 to 5:00 pm.

The Workshop will focus on Standard/Smooth dances that move around the expansive Spanish ballroom in a line of dance.  The first hour of instruction will cover basic steps used in the waltzes: slow waltz, Viennese waltz, and samba.  The second hour will cover foxtrot, quickstep, and ballroom tango.  NOTE: We will be dancing and practicing to songs drawn from the Winter Ball Playlist.

The Workshop is designed with beginner to intermediate dancers in mind, and will cover lead and follow techniques along with basic step figures that can be used across multiple dance styles. More experienced dancers are encouraged to join the Workshop for brush-up practice and to help newer dancers.  We will be rotating partners, though this is always optional for those who dance with a preferred partner.

Following the two hours of instruction there will be 1 hour of supervised practice to recorded Fall Ball Playlist music from 4:00 to 5:00 pm.  Steps used in the popular samba line dance will be reviewed during the supervised practice session. Songs representing some of the other dance styles on the Playlist will be included, such as rumba, swing, and cha-cha.   There is no additional charge for the supervised practice.

The Workshop will be taught by Ballroom Time staff Tom Hall and Min Zhang who have a combined total of over 50 years of ballroom dance experience.

Admission to the Workshop is $15 (Cash /Check/Zelle/Credit Card at the door).  Full-time students and students enrolled in our Thursday evening class series may take the Workshop for $5 (Cash only).

Students who complete this Workshop may attend our November 24, 2024 dance featuring the James Bazen Ballroom Band at the student rate of $5.

No partner is required, singles are encouraged to attend. Children under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
