Welcome to Ballroom TimeBallroom Time is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer group of dancers dedicated to the promotion of ballroom dancing. We are an Established Dance Presenter at Glen Echo Park where we produce regular Sunday afternoon dances and an Annual Ballroom Dance Gala. All of our dance events are held in the historic Spanish Ballroom or the Ballroom Back Room at Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD 20812. Sunday Afternoon Ballroom DancesWe produce one or two Sunday Afternoon Ballroom Time dances each month. Live music is provided to dance Slow Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Bachata, Cha-Cha, Samba, Mambo, Swing/Jive and more. Each event features a beginner lesson from 2:45 to 3:30 pm that covers ballroom dance basics and a dance of the month. The lesson is followed by dancing to live music from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. During intermissions there is dancing to pre-recorded music. Each event features a line dance, a mixer or two, and often a showcase or dance demonstration. Click on the 2025 calendar at left for our full schedule. Our next dance features Some Assembly with vocals by Iain Sturrock. The dance will take place in the Spanish Ballroom on Sunday, March 23 from 2:30-6:00 pm. Many singles attend Ballroom Time events; a dance partner is not required. Dancers at all levels including beginners are encouraged to attend. Ballroom Time's Dance Classes and Workshops Ballroom Time offers both weekday evening class series and periodic Saturday workshops to help beginners get started. Classes are 1 hour each over 4 weeks. Workshops are 2 hours each followed by 1 hour of supervised dance practice. Both classes and workshops are held in the Spanish Ballroom or Backroom, and are taught by Ballroom Time staff with occasional guest instructors. Entitled "ABC's of Ballroom Dancing", the instruction is designed to help ballroom beginners understand how a few basic steps can be applied to multiple dance styles. Leading and following techniques are covered with a goal of preparing students to dance at our monthly events and the annual Fall Ball. No dance partner is required. Students actively enrolled in our weekday evening class series may attend our Sunday dances at the student discount rate. Enrollment through Glen Echo Park is requested for the weekday evening classes though drop-ins are welcome. The registration link is here: Spring/ Summer series filter "spring" and "Thursday". Our next class series begins March 20, 2025 (Thursdays, Ballroom) followed by series that begin May 22 (Thursdays, Ballroom) and July 15 (Tuesdays, Backroom). The Saturday workshops are pay-at-the-door, no pre-registration is required. Our next workshop will be held on the afternoon of March 15, 2025 in the Spanish Ballroom.
