Welcome to Ballroom Time
Ballroom Time is a not-for-profit, all-volunteer group of dancers dedicated to the promotion of ballroom dancing. We are an Established Dance Presenter at Glen Echo Park where we produce regular Sunday afternoon dances and an Annual Ballroom Dance Gala. All of our dance events are held in the historic Spanish Ballroom or the Ballroom Back Room at Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd, Glen Echo, MD 20812.
Our NEXT DANCE will take place in the Spanish Ballroom on the evening of September 27, 2026. A beginner lesson in Foxtrot starts at 6:15 PM. Music by DJ Broomtime (our volunteers) then plays from 7:00 until 9:30. The music covers a variety of ballroom dance styles: Slow Waltz, Foxtrot, Tango, Quickstep, Viennese Waltz, Rumba, Bachata, Cha-Cha, Samba, Mambo, East Coast Swing, West Coast Swing, Hustle, Merengue, and more. We produce one or two Sunday Afternoon Ballroom Time dances each month that feature live and/or recorded music. Each event features a beginner lesson from 2:45 to 3:30 pm that covers ballroom dance basics and a dance of the day. The lesson is followed by dancing from 3:30 to 6:00 pm. Each event features a samba line dance or two, a mixer, and often a showcase or dance demonstration. Click the Calendar icon above for our full schedule.
Many singles attend Ballroom Time events; a dance partner is not required. Dancers at all levels including beginners are encouraged to attend. Children under 18 should be accompanied by an adult.
Ballroom Time's Fourth Annual FALL BALL
will take place in the historic Spanish Ballroom on November 14, 2026 from 7:00 to 11:00 pm.
Ballroom Time's Dance Classes and Workshops
Our NEXT WORKSHOP will be held in the Ballroom Backroom on Saturday afternoon September 19, 2026 focusing on Latin dances (mambo, rumba, cha-cha, bachata, and merengue). This will be followed by a workshop in the Spanish Ballroom on October 31 focusing on standard dances that move in a line of dance around the ballroom. The workshops will run from 2:30 to 4:30 PM followed by supervised practice and open dancing until 5:30. Admission is $15; FT Students and students enrolled in one of our evening classes pay $10. Our workshops are pay-at-the-door; no pre-registration is required.
Ballroom Time offers both weekday evening class series and periodic Saturday afternoon workshops to help dancers progress in ballroom dancing. Classes are 1 hour or 30 minutes (Ballroom Line Dancing Practica) each over 5 weeks, with an ABC's class for ballroom beginners at 6:30 PM and Ballroom Line Dancing Practica at 7:30 PM and an A+ class for intermediate-level dancers at 8:00 PM. Workshops are multi-level for all dancers. Workshops are 2 hours each followed by 1 hour of supervised dance practice. Both classes and workshops are held in the Spanish Ballroom or Backroom, and are taught by Ballroom Time staff with occasional guest instructors. Our instruction emphasizes the overlap of steps and figures across multiple dance styles. We cover basic leading and following techniques with a goal of helping students to dance better at our monthly events and the annual Fall Ball. No dance partner is required. Students actively enrolled in our weekday evening class series may attend our Sunday dances and Saturday workshops at the student discount rate.
